Jena' is currently completing the ShadowsForge series based on fictional British rock band, ShadowsForge. These five British Bad Boys travel in the Romance/Adventure genre. She hopes that you enjoy them as much as she does.
A Brief History of ShadowsForge:
Several years ago, I wrote Fan Fiction. Fan Fiction is the act of using existing characters or persons or
situations with your own story line. Some fan fiction writers have been lucky enough to have their "episode"
actually used in one popular television series that I know of. Entire websites have been dedicated to
Fan Fiction. Just about any subject, character, movie and tv show has fan fiction out there on the web.
Some of it is incredibly well written and some if it is incredibly horrid. If you can't get enough of a
character or your favorite show has been cancelled, you'll probably be able to find the continuing stories
online in the form of Fan Fiction.
My first fanfic, as it is known, was an episode based on Walt Disney's Zorro. I was on a group for Guy
Williams, the Don Diego Dela Vega/Zorro in the show. Guy was my first love when I was but four year old
when I saw him in "Captain Sinbad". When I was nine, I saw him in the syndicated run of Zorro. Long story
short, the Guy Wiliams group that I was on was working with his son, Guy Jr., to get notariety for Guy in
the form of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (which we accomplished) and legend status for him with
Disney. I wrote several fanfics that were included in books that were sent to Disney as part of our
ongoing project. They were also posted on www.fanfiction.net for a while.
>From this experience and my love of rock music, I moved to writing about the 80s bands. I started to see
how difficult it was for the band members to keep their relationships together and soon developed the basic
story line for ShadowsForge 1: Three Times a Hero. The one thing that you can not do with fanfic is make
money from it. So in order to not waste my time and creative energy or get sued for copyright infringement,
I decided to create my own band. ShadowsForge was born in July of 2002 when a fall in my garden rendered
me unable to work for a month. I pounded out the first of the series, intending to leave it at that. Several
friends where I work read the book and wanted to know what happened next. The series is now up to six and
that should be the end of it - but we will see.
I created the characters of Ty Synclair and Geoff Richards in book one. I asked my Beta Readers to name the
other members of the band. They gave me Jordan Cantrell and Jon Wiles, complete with descriptions. My husband
gave me Brian Cummings. I searched through many 80s bands to find visuals for each member and I use pictures of
actual rock musicians when I write to help me picture the actions, expressions, etc. I will not name those persons here as that may cause problems but somehow
four of the five descriptions fit Bass players and the fifth (Geoff Richards) is a drummer. Maybe some day I will
run a contest to see who can identify my visuals from their descriptions. Any one who knows me will know who
Ty Synclair is because he was the only one who had a visual before I began to write the series. I just happen to
love Bass Players.
